Do spices, herbs and seasonings go bad?
Many of these items can be kept for longer if they are packed tightly and kept in a dark cupboard. They will however, loose some of their strength as time goes on. Also check the ingredient listings because if there are additives such as oils, we recommend following the two-year policy.
TopDo your products contain MSG?
A few of our blends contain MSG. Please read our ingredient listings for this information or contact us at anytime.
Do your products contain preservatives?
The majority of our products do not contain any preservative or additives, they are pure blends of spices and herbs. However, with the changing needs of many families who are looking for quick ways of flavouring their quick dinners, we have added many blends that contain items which need preservation. Simply read the labels for clarification.

How fresh are your spices?
We pride ourselves on the freshness of our product. Although the products are dried herbs and spices, we grind, blend and package based on our orders. This allows the product to maintain its freshness by not sitting in our warehouse ground and blended for more than 2 months.
I can’t find one of your products, what can I do?
If you can’t find one of our products, simply contact us and we will be happy to help.
What is the shelf life of your spices?
We currently have a shelf life of 2 years on our spices, herbs and seasonings.

Where can I buy your spices?
Our spices can be purchased at many of the smaller bulk food stores across Canada. And without you knowing it, you are eating our spices at many different restaurants across the country. If you have a request for an item, please contact us at orderdesk@hortonspicemills.com
Where do your spices and herbs come from?
Our spices are sourced from all over the world. We carry products from Egypt to Indonesia, India to Madagascar and beyond. If you have a specific question, please do not hesitate to contact us.
